The Judges are called to the stage

The rehearsals had taken place, the sound checks were complete and the lights were dimmed, for once again the BDH Talent Show was ready to begin. The audience were treated to the delights of comedic video free styling rapping, to sumptuous singing, and some dancing Beys to round off the evening.

Prof Chapple was whisked onto the stage by the committee of the Performing Arts Society and announced the five judges for the evening; Jo Batt, Louis Mackenzie, Giles Perryer, John Rout and Philip Lumley. After much innuendo about singing in the shower and Funmi fulfilling Louis Mackenzie’s promises, the vote was cast and the top three were revealed.

1st: Ahmed Samer Tadfi with his a cappella version of Ordinary People.
2nd: Alessandro, last years’ beatboxing champion.
3rd: ‘The Three Beys’ a medley of songs by Beyonce with Funmi, Hanifa & Adanna.

What happened in 2012

The Crowd are waiting to be let in.

The biggest event this side of Christmas took place at the Dental Hospital today and we have given it a page all by itself.  The annual Birmingham Dental School has talent night showcased the amazing abilities of our students including singing, beatboxing and breakdancing.  The compere was Professor Iain Chapple and not only did he introduce the students but his two daughters, Natasha and Jessica also gave heart rendering renditions from Musicals.  There were contributions from the School of Hygiene and Therapy as well as from all dental students years.  The video interludes were fun including dancing in the canteen (with a stoic Neville Hall) and some very interesting pole dancing.  The judges were Mr MacKenzie, Prof Landini, Prof Walmsley, Prof White, Mrs Stanley, Prof Perryer who provided some amusing comments throughout the concert.

Kristina and her amazing voice

Mr Upen Patel provided a text voting procedure and the list of performers is shown on one of the slides.  The eventual winner was Alessandro, 2nd Year Dental Student, for his Beatboxing.

Shiraz and his dancing

The two people to thank for the successful evening were Funmi Oluwajana and Shiraz Khan but there are many others that need praising but they know who they are and thanks to everyone for putting on such a great evening.
