The British Dental Association held its Annual Conference and Exhibition at ExCeL, London. The conference provides a unique range of activities from lectures to information gathering from the exhibitors. There is a strong social aspect in the evening after the long conference day. Networking with many of the movers and shakers in British Dentistry provides many opportunities to learn what is happening around the country. In particular, Earl Howe, Under Secretary of Stated for Quality, Department of Health gave an address outlining the government’s future plans for dentistry. He announced that NHS England is to look closely at how dental services can be improved for vulnerable patients and individuals who are not accessing care. This review will be led by our very own Janet Clarke from Birmingham.
Wandering around the exhibition hall one bumped into many familiar Birmingham faces as the selection of photographs shows. Not only our recent qualified alumni but current students students attended as well. Several past Birmingham students were lecturing at the conference including Professor Anthony Roberts, Balqees Bi and Andrew Corke. The BDA Annual Conference is a highlight in the calendar and we look forward to Manchester next year. One also hopes that it may take place in Birmingham in the not so distant future.
