Batting collapse hands victory to Students

On a warm Friday Afternoon in Birmingham, the Staff vs Student Cricket Match took place after a 5 year hiatus due to bad weather. (Surely not that long – the blogger!)

The students won the toss and decided to bat first. After slumping to 52-5, the students recovered well with Chris Beech (BDS 2) showing all his class with an unbeaten 56 and helping his team post a score of 154-9 off 20 overs.  A confident Staff team started their innings brightly with a few monstrous sixes over square leg. However, they were soon pegged back and lost wickets at regular intervals with Jason Maisuria’s (BDS 3) wily leg spin claiming 4 victims.
The Staff ended up 59 all out leading to a student victory of nearly 100 runs.

All in all, it was a great day enjoyed by many and hopefully next year promises good weather and another brilliant game of Cricket!
