The Sands Cox society 33rd AGM and Annual Scientific Meeting, took place at the Birmingham Medical Institute, Birmingham.  Professor Deborah White was elected President and Chair of the Society and introduced the The Dental Sands Cox Lecture ‘FROM PEBBLE MILL AT ONE TO A NEW DENTAL SCHOOL’
This lecture was presented by Prof Philip Lumley, Director and Head of School of Dentistry and Dr David Attrill, Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry.  Both gave an overview of the events leading to the present development of the new School at the Pebble Mill site.  They also provided an up to date report of the building progress due to open in 2015.

Two of our dental students also presented at the Scientific Meeting.
Miss Sarah Franks – Recipient of Sands Cox Society  John Rippin Best Elective Report – presented ‘Cephalometric Norms in an Asian/British Asian Population’
and Miss Camilla Morrison – Recipient of The John Rippin Dental Elective Bursary – presented her work on ‘Street Smiles – Promoting Oral health to the Homeless Populations’. Both of our students gave enthusiastic and impressive presentations. Congratulations on their performance.
