Here in the dental school, we love a good fundraising event! The cause is to assist the European Dental Students Association who are leading on two volunteer projects providing dental aid to developing areas of the world. With a great cause to support and a kindly donated Kindle we came up with a giveaway competition.
Between 6-10th October the corridors, canteen and common areas were trawled with a set of nitrile gloves. The two gloves were filled with an undisclosed number of phantom head teeth. For £1, students and staff alike submitted their best guess on the number of teeth inside. All money raised was going to two volunteer projects led by the European Dental Students Association. The schemes combine education and outreach in remote areas of India and Tanzania.
Much to peoples’ surprise, the total number of teeth inside the gloves was 387! Congratulations to Bal Nandra, BDS5, who made the closest guess of 385.
The competition raised a great £110 for the projects and hopefully this is the beginning of much more. Please read more about the projects by following the links below.
