Do you remember the old days?
The Selfridges building looking good with its own Christmas Tree
This is one of my favourite pictures of the present dental school. Will miss the daily hustle and bustle of the rush hour past the building.
The new dental school and hospital is getting ready for 2015
There is a tradition amongst the staff that on the last day of term there is a Christmas breakfast with all the trimmings. Students are now finished and are reunited with family, friends and loved ones. We keep going for a few more days yet!
Headline statement for Dentistry following #REF2014 results taken from the University of Birmingham website
“Ranked first in the country for Dentistry in terms of 4* and 3* research, academics have joined forces with leading global industry names such as Unilever, Philips and Mars to trial new products which will have health impacts far beyond dental issues, including in diabetes and heart disease. The research has also led to a number of disease assessment tools being launched for high- street dentists, and low-cost tests to help people to stop smoking. In 2015, following significant investment, the first new dental hospital in the UK for 40 years will open as the new home for the University’s School of Dentistry.”

Neville Hall one of our longstanding clinical practice members of staff has retired from teaching. Neville has been with us almost continuously since 1963 and was also an outstanding practitioner in Birmingham. Many people gathered in the board room to wish Neville all the best.
Can you see the Dental School?
Our students qualify and then move on to be very successful dentists in their own community. At the recent Dental Awards there were many successful Birmingham Dental School Alumni. The picture shows Rich Wills (1993) and Steve Lomas (1992) from the Old Surgery Dental Practice in Crewe picking up an award for the Best Dental Practice in the North West. Many other of recent graduates were nominated for awards and you can look at the names to see if you recognise a few names from Birmingham 🙂
Read all about it. Lots of information about the school.
Don’t forget to pay a visit to the German Market
It is so cold that it might snow – hope I can get some pictures like this later this week 🙂
Pebble Mill is the site for our new Dental School. This is a nice sunset on the 24th January 2013. The new school is part of our new year’s resolution to provide the best treatment for our patients’ and the best education for all our students both undergraduate and postgraduate.
