This weekend Dr Hussein S Patanwala a final year Clinical lecturer and Deputy Head of Firm A, competed in his first Triathlon. A month ago he set himself a challenge to raise money and awareness for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Cherry Lodge Cancer Care London. With a hard regime of training it was only at 4 days to go that he finally felt ready to compete and open the Charity page. Within 4 days he managed to raise over £3500 with the kind donations from staff, students and former students.
With a predicted time of 2 hours 30 minutes and advice from the our very own fitness guru Prof P Lumley to ‘pace yourself’. Hussein decided to throw caution to the wind and give 100% and to the swim and bike and looked mighty coming into the final transition. The run started strong however within a few hundred metres of the hilly course cramp set in and with clenched teeth and determination the finish line was finally crossed with a time of 1 hour 32 minutes.
He has asked to say a big thank for all your kind wishes and donations and wishes to pass on support to Zehra Yonel who will also be completing a charity 10K run in July.
