Andy Davies had a major stroke which left him with locked in syndrome. This happened in 2011 and from being a very successful dentist, he found himself fighting to stay alive. His determination and faith pulled him through but left his entire body shut down. Amazingly he has not let this situation prevent him from communicating with the world and campaigning for causes that matter a great deal to him. So on a September Saturday night at the Holiday Inn Birmingham, Andy and his close friends arranged for a celebratory dinner dance to promote the release of his Book “Pressed but not Crushed” co-authored with his wife Emma Davies. There were 300 hundred people gathered to buy his book and also raise funds for Andy’s nominated charity “Hope for Justice”. This Charity works to rescue and assist victims of modern-day slavery, supporting the prosecution of traffickers and campaign to protect victims. The CEO Ben Cooley thanked everyone for their generosity and also Andy Davies for his courage and determination in life. Andy was a popular student during his time at dental school and the School of Dentistry sponsored a table at the dinner. Both Prof White and Prof Lumley enthusiastically involved themselves in the charity auction coming away with some fantastic items.
