Kris Coomar is leaving us to move back to Melbourne Australia. Kris joined the University of Birmingham at the beginning of 2005, as a clinical lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry, with a clinical attachment to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He has just completed his PhD on the dental material mineral trioxide aggregate used in endodontic treatments.
Kris has been a valued and enthusiastic teacher in Paediatric Dentistry. He also instigated the Staff Club social that takes place at the end of the month. This was started whilst we were in the old school and has successfully transferred to the new one. Locally he participated as Treasurer of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) West Midlands Branch and nationally was part of the Health and Science Committee of the British Dental Association. At his leaving function, pictures emerged of his time as one of the “Plaque Street Boys”, his participation in the three peaks climb with the students and his time as Staff President of BUDSS . After his leaving presentation, it was over to the staff club to give Kris a proper farewell.
