One of the happiest days in the calendar and also a memorable one. This year all passed in one sitting and therefore they can call themselves a “white gloves” year. Prof Chapple, the Head of School wore a set of white gloves when he announced the results to the students on the day that they were announced. Following that exciting day, we are looked forward to degree day. The graduation ceremony was in the great hall and the pro Vice Chancellor Robin Mason conferred the degrees to the graduands who then left as graduates of the University of Birmingham. The campus is such a great setting for a graduation ceremony and there were many selfies taken in the period straight after the ceremony. There was a group photograph and then it was back to the dental school where the prize giving ceremony took place.

The Guest of honour for the Prize day was Gill Bradnock who was the former senior tutor at the dental school. Gill gave a moving speech to the assembled audience. There were many happy faces as the prizes were awarded. After the presentations and speeches, everyone assembled in the Hospital Restaurant for the traditional strawberries and cream reception.

Bobby Pendreigh won the overall Masters Prize. Bobby who is Clinical Tutor/Senior General Dental Practitioner at the Campbeltown Dental Centre in Scotland is shown with his prize together with Prof Burke and Emma Gilks from Coltene Whaledent.
