Kirsty Hill to become new Head of Dentistry

The first Female Head of Dentistry at Birmingham, Dr Kirsty Hill will take up her appointment on August 1st

“Following her interview earlier this week, I am also pleased to announce the appointment of Kirsty Hill as Head of Dentistry. Appointment has been made for a four-year term, which may be renewable for up to three years. Kirsty will officially take up this role from 1 August 2020; in the meantime, I will support her and Iain Chapple to allow for a structured handover. I would like to take this early opportunity to thank Iain Chapple for his service during his term of office.

Kirsty Dr Hill is Head of Education and Programme Lead for Dentistry and leads the educational developments within the School.  Her present role involves implementing University policies and practices in relation to academic quality and standards.  She has overarching responsibility for the delivery of education for Dentistry.  This includes the following programmes:-

  1. Bachelor of Dental Science
  2. BSc in Dental Hygiene and Therapy
  3. Biomedical Material Science Degree
  4. MSc in Restorative Dentistry
  5. MSc in Dental Materials

Dr Hill has a strong academic background in Dental Public Health and Behavioural Science.  Her full profile is on the University Web site. She has worked in the following areas:
